MATE is an ergonomic skeleton worn on the outside of the body, which is designed to ease repeated and physically tough movements of the arms and shoulders. With MATE, the employee can perform the same tasks, but with less exhaustion and strain. It works by distributing the weight from the arms to the pelvis during high and repetitive tasks. This ensures greater comfort for the employee and increases work quality, efficiency and quality.
It is developed by Comau in collaboration with ÖSSUR - a leading Icelandic orthopaedic company and Italian IUVO, specializing in sustainable technologies. They aim to put the worker at the centre and contribute to the development of more modern and efficient production. MATE replicates the dynamic movements of the shoulders and upper body, and several independent studies have documented a significant reduction in exhaustion. This results in higher productivity and higher quality in the execution of the work.
